Anderlecht vs Manchester United UEFA EUROPA LEAGUE Quarter-Final Review
A game that was in Manchester United’s favour ends 1-1 at the final whistle, Manchester United with the away goal though will still see them as favourites.
Manchester United created many opportunities within the game but only managing to score one of the 15 shots.
Anderlecht goalkeeper Martínez made some fantastic saves especially by denying Paul Pogba from scoring a great opportunity.
Ibrahimovic came close to scoring in the early minutes but a great save by Anderlecht goalkeeper Martínez and help with the post to also refuse Jese Lingard from scoring.
Rashford also had a few chances to score within the game which lead to one of his shots being parried out as far as Mkhitaryan who was not going to miss from 5 yards, making it 0-1 to Manchester United in the 36th minute.
Anderlecht had also managed to take a few shots, 12 in fact.
However in the end all that mattered was the only shot they managed to get on target was scored by Anderlecht youngster Dendoncker in the late minutes of the game making the score 1-1, and that’s how the game was to end 1-1.
The blame was left on Manchester United forwards after Mourinho said the following:
“If I was a Manchester United defender, I would be very upset with the attacking players,” he followed with “They did the serious work. The people who had to kill the game didn’t.”
